Win £1,500 by saving energy in your home
The European Citizens Climate Cup (ECCC) is a household competition between different countires to reduce energy costs and carbon emissions.
It takes just 5 minutes to create your own Energy Saving Account (ESA) and then just 5 minutes each month to input your monthly meter or bill readings.
The participant that makes the greatest energy savings during the lifetime of this competition will be heralded as the UK Energy Saver of the Year and will win a prize of up to £1,500 to spend on those things that will help them save even more energy. The money could perhaps be used towards...
- solar panels to generate electricity or hot water
- insulation for any part of the home
- energy efficient appliances
- an electric bike or pedal bike
...the choice is up to you!
The winner will also be able to take advantage of a full home energy survey to help them decide what the prize could best be spent on as well as being invited to attend an all expenses paid trip for 2 people to the final award ceremony in Brussels.
The ESA will clearly demonstrate how much energy you are using against the national average for a property and circumstances similar to your own. Then, over the duration of the project, as you input your monthly energy meter readings, the ESA will show whether your energy consumption is going up or down. With the energy saving advice and guidance provided by the ECCC website and the bimonthly newsletters, it should be possible for everyone to make household energy savings. If you have also been able to input your meter/bill readings from the previous year the ESA will be able to show you far more quickly the benefits of your energy saving efforts, by demonstrating how your energy consumption compares with the same period the previous year.
