Energy monitoring devices
Monitoring your whole house
These devices monitor electricity consumption throughout your home, providing at-this-moment information about how much electricity is being used. Some of them also store data so you can look at your usage pattern over time. Please see the manufacturer's website for full details of each product:

PV and energy monitors - The energy monitor senses the current passing through the cable by the meter, but it cannot tell which way the current is flowing. When PV is installed this means it will give the net amount imported during daylight hours and on sunny days with low electricity usage in the home it can give readings showing how much is being exported. Instantaneous readings after dark will be correct, but this will mean it gives distorted historical data for daily/weekly/monthly usage.
Monitoring single appliances
You can also buy plug-in single appliance monitors which will record the amount of electricity used over a period of time. Rather than leaving the monitor permanently attached to one appliance, we suggest you move it around, monitoring several appliances for one month each, for example. Some examples of this type of product can be viewed here, here and here although if you type "plug in energy monitor" or "plug in energy meter" into a search engine you will find others.
